The Munktell Museum

At the Munktell Museum, located in the old industrial part of Eskilstuna known as Munktellstaden, 180 years of Swedish industrial history is put up for display.

Climb, sit, touch and play around in the old vehicles

At the Munktell museum you will, among other things, find a copy of Förstlingen, Sweden’s first steam-powered locomotive, as well as the first Swedish tractor and wheel loader. In addition, you will find the first dumper with articulated steering that was ever mass-produced here.

The Munktell museum is unique in the sense that the visitors are not only allowed to look at the machines on display. You are welcome to climb, sit, touch and play around in the old vehicles, which is usually very popular among younger visitors.

You can also take part in a guided tour of the museum, enjoy some hot coffee in the café, or shop for a souvenir in the gift shop. Throughout the year the Munktell museum also arranges a variety of events, such as their popular annual Christmas market.
