The Rademacher Forges

The Rademacher Forges (Rademachersmedjorna in Swedish) in Eskilstuna is one of Sweden’s best preserved 17th century-environments. Today it’s an open-air museum, hosting craftsmen and their shops.

History, exibitions and craftmanship at Rademacher Forges

The area of Rademacher Forges is accessible 24 hours per day, all year round. Outdoors you will find the exhibition ”Forgotten stories” which portrays people that lived and worked in the well-kept, small, red houses. In the area you can find several craftsmen with their products for sale. During the summer you can visit the museums smithy and children can visit Smetuna, a smithy designed for children to play in, inspired by 17th-century life.

Try-out-activities

You can try out blacksmithing at Jutemarks Smide and pottery at Gamla Stadens krukmakeri. Booking only!

Events and restaurant

Different events such as theatrical plays, guided tours and fairs are held here during the year. In a snug and cosy environment in one of the old houses you will also find Jernberghska, a restaurant which offers high quality food and Swedish fika in a charming environment.
